I was attacked online.
A homeowner posted a tearful video, saying that our residential community's management fees had gone up from 2.8 yuan to 3.3 yuan, an increase of 50 cents:
"Heartless management company! Are you so broke that you're picking on us new homeowners?"
The whole internet started cursing me, calling me a bloodsucker and a ruthless capitalist.
No one cared about the extra services we'd been providing at a loss for five years: facial recognition access control, smart surveillance systems, health-monitoring devices on every floor, 24-hour security, free holiday events, and more.
These free services cost us over a million yuan in losses every year.
So I decided to give the public what they wanted. I announced that the management fee would drop back to 2.8 yuan, and that we would withdraw all the extra services.
The moment the notice went out, the whole community erupted.
The homeowners crowded outside the management office, crying and begging me to restore the services.
Domineering and cold 👍
