During the Southern Song Dynasty, Du Liniang, the daughter of Du Bao, the prefect of Nan'an, was moved by love while reading "The Book of Songs·Guan Ju" in a private school. After visiting the garden in spring, she dreamed of meeting the scholar Liu Mengmei. Three years later, Liu Mengmei went to Beijing to take the imperial examination and stayed at Meihua Nunnery. He found the portrait of Du Liniang and fell in love with her. He called to her day and night, and Du Liniang came back from the dead. After the two went through twists and turns, Du Liniang's identity was finally recognized by her parents and the emperor, and she married Liu Mengmei.
