Let the Long Winds Carry Me to You

At university, Chen An was the law school’s shining star, sunny and outgoing, the sun in everyone’s eyes. Lin Wei was the art department’s quietest, most solitary girl, always painting alone in a corner. No one knew how two people from such different worlds had ended up together.

A sudden family upheaval knocked Chen An from his pedestal, leaving him gloomy and withdrawn. Everyone gradually drifted away. Only Lin Wei stayed firmly by his side, using her clumsy yet heartwarming brushstrokes to slowly paint his shattered world back together.

Years later, Chen An, now a renowned lawyer, stands at Lin Wei’s solo exhibition, gazing at a painting titled “My Sun.” It shows him napping in the library, sunlight falling across his profile.

A reporter asks him, “Lawyer Chen, why is this painting the only one in the exhibition that isn’t for sale?”

He looks toward his wife, signing books nearby, his gaze tender and resolute. “Because the artist herself is the light I had to spend a lifetime’s worth of luck winning back.”
