1995: The Rongcheng Zombie Case

In the height of summer in 1995, workers expanding the Wuhou Shrine accidentally unearthed a stone chamber from the Qing dynasty containing three red coffins inscribed with eerie talismans. Professor Wang and his student Li Juan from the archaeological team joined the investigation. They discovered that the dried corpses inside were the remains of corrupt Qing officials, bearing "corpse-binding patterns" and "corpse-summoning talismans." It seemed someone had deliberately been preserving the corpses. The coffins were transferred to the cultural relics institute overnight, only to vanish mysteriously. Soon afterward, zombies began attacking people across Rongcheng, throwing the city into panic.

Detective Zhao Gang was determined to uncover the truth. Teaming up with Qinglong and Baihu, agents from Bureau 749, he discovered that the corpses had become reanimated and fled to the Xiling Snow Mountains. Professor Wang, Li Juan, Daoist Zhang, and the others formed a team and tracked them into the mountains, where they faced off against the three corpses in the Temple of the Corpse Suppressor, deep in the snowy peaks. In the end, using evidence of the Qing officials' crimes and "pure yang blood," they lifted a century-old curse of the walking dead at the Kunlun altar and destroyed the source of the corpse miasma.
