Huang Shiba, a weasel spirit from the remote mountains of Northeast China, gets mistakenly bound to a Celestial System in a hurry to meet its KPIs. It demands that he ascend to immortality within three years.
But his cultivation consists of helping villagers deal with strange affairs, drive away evil spirits, and keep their homes safe.
The Celestial envoy scolds him for neglecting his proper duties. Huang Shiba counts on his fingers:
"Yesterday, I helped a widow find her lost chicken. Merit: +1."
"Last week, I broke the ghostly maze in the neighboring village. Merit: +10."
"Just now, I traded two mu of sweet potatoes for a fox spirit's inner core. Merit: +10,086."
While the Celestial Realm's prodigies are still fighting to the death in secret realms, Huang Shiba relies on the simplest folk wisdom. Driving his tractor with his demon-immortal brothers, he turns the entire mountain into an "earthly paradise" that even the Heavenly Dao can't help but gawk at.
