"Mirror of Unlucky" tells the story of Shen Ming, a young modern scholar, who touches Wang Mang's bronze mirror in a ritual and music experiment, travels through a parallel universe, and becomes "Wang Mang" who has just ascended the throne. The history of this time and space is darker, rituals and music are broken, and people's hearts are out of order. Shen Ming used the idealist view of history as his blade, promoted the New Policy of Ritual and Music, established the Xinxue Academy, and tried to "change fate with faith." However, natural disasters, uprisings, and visions in the mirror struck one after another, and history repaired itself like a giant wheel. The more he tries to escape from his destiny, the more he discovers that "people's hearts are history" is also a part of his destiny. Fifty years later, the bronze mirror shattered, and countless Wang Mang was reflected in the fragments. Only then did he realize that the believer was not destined to die, but he was still reflected in the mirror. The novel takes ancient culture as its bones and idealism as its blood, and explores the eternal paradox between personal will and historical laws.
