After most of the heroes in Liangshan died, their souls did not return to the underworld. Instead, they all gathered on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. They used the cold air there to regain their physical bodies and formed the "Ghost Banner Undead Army" to march north to conquer the Song Dynasty.
