Using her position in the Chancellor's residence, Shen Qingci begins cautiously gathering information. Along the way, she clashes more often with Shen Mingzhu and others, but her own wits and Xiao Jue's covert assistance help her resolve each crisis, gradually establishing her footing in the residence.
Xiao Jue finds all sorts of "reasonable" excuses to spend time with Shen Qingci. Sometimes he offers her advice; other times, he comes to her aid when she's in danger. Their partnership gradually brings them closer, and Xiao Jue's affection for her begins to show.
