In front of a thousand students, the tacky commercial I made is held up as a cautionary example. The old professor points at me and roars, “Get out of the academy!” The whole school sees me as a disgrace to the industry. My ex-girlfriend links arms with my rich rival and sneers that I can’t even afford a meal, and that all I’m fit to make is garbage!
But they have no idea that on the other side of the internet, under the alias “Kurosawa,” I’ve torn the hundred-billion-box-office champion to shreds in my essay “A Feast of Garbage,” which the industry hails as scripture! A top-tier director even marvels from afar: “Straight to the heart. The insight of a master!”
In the real world, I’m the disgrace scorned by the academy. Online, I’m the godfather leading a new era!
When I wake up, I’ve been reborn in a parallel world where film technology has reached its peak, but storytelling is laughably impoverished.
I’m about to be expelled for owing thirty thousand in tuition from the start? Luckily, there’s a pantheon in my mind, filled with every timeless classic from Earth!
While top directors can only pile on special effects to create spectacles, I whip up a bizarre “Shenbao Yuan” ad that sets the whole internet alight with the tackiest idea imaginable. I’ll take that five-hundred-thousand fee!
While the entire industry celebrates its feast of garbage, I publish “Structure Is King,” using the narrative trickery of “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” to upend everyone’s assumptions. I become the god of the internet, with countless industry bigwigs bowing in reverence.
When the genius campus beauty who looked down on me begs me to let her direct.
When the rich second-generation heir who sneered at me discovers that I’ve torn the blockbuster his father invested in to shreds, calling it worthless.
When the lofty old professor regards the script I casually wrote as a masterpiece...
I, Su Mu, will use the art of Earth to show this world:
This is what real cinema looks like!
I've only read Chapter 21, so I don't know what to expect next. But the writing is good and has new ideas. It's strange that the main character thinks that 80% of the success of the movie is due to the actors, and these actors are unique in the world. In this case, why did the author write them as a group of clowns in Chapter 20? A group of low-level actors who are very eager for fame and fortune. They treat the protagonist and Director Feng like stupid clowns, and the protagonist later becomes friends with them.
Fortunately, it is better than many others, and I have the desire to read it.
Very good book, good luck to the author
This is a really good book with a lot of philosophy in it. Reading this kind of book is a kind of enjoyment, not entertainment at all.
