It all begins with a dragonfly shimmering with an unusual light.
When Lu Fan, Xing Xing, and A Han, three young people from the modern world, chase the dragonfly through their own world, following its unpredictable path and the firefly-like glow that streams around it, they enter the depths of a fog-shrouded forest. They never imagine that this single step will send them tumbling into a fantastical world of cultivation: the Continent of Myriad Spirits. Even more startling, this world is no fabled paradise. The seven domains of Water, Fire, Thunder, Wood, Earth, Wind, and the ancient Light have long been entangled in grudges. A thousand years of resentment, suspicion, and hostility have become invisible shackles, making the prospect of uniting against their common threat, the “Outsiders,” seem bleak.
In this unfamiliar and perilous land, the three of them unexpectedly awaken unique abilities, which may be the key to finding a place for themselves here.
Lu Fan: Master of Light and Darkness
Xing Xing: Wielder of Wind and Water
A Han: Bearer of Thunder and Fire
Traditional cultivation is bound to be dull, so will these three really cultivate by the book? Of course not, especially Zhao Xing Xing. She’s a physics researcher who earned a full scholarship, and perhaps the things impossible in the real world can spark something new in a world of cultivation.
