The day the dragon veins collapse is the day the nation's fortunes fall.
In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, an enemy hidden in the shadows of history quietly set in motion the "Dragon-Erosion Plan," a scheme centuries in the making. Vengeful spirits in the Forbidden City, corpses rising in western Hunan, ghost soldiers in the Gobi Desert... Behind each bizarre case lies a direct threat to the lifeblood of China: the dragon vein nodes.
The Special Affairs Investigation Bureau, or SAIB, is the republic's last secret line of defense. Lin Feng, a young man who carries on Taoist traditions and possesses a pair of extraordinary eyes that can see into the depths of the void, is ordered to join the bureau.
He stands alongside Mu Rong Ying, a sword arts successor whose origins are a mystery; Lei Meng, a comrade with a furious, diamond-hard gaze; Shen Yingchu, a genius versed in modern technology; and Su Yue, whose spiritual senses are keen. Together, they venture deep into one forbidden zone after another, places shrouded in the uncanny and death.
Yet true terror does not come from outside. Traitors have long since infiltrated the SAIB, making every operation a struggle. From the vicious soul of "Yazi" in Changbai Mountain in the northeast, to the raging waves of "Chiwen" on the southeastern islands, and the poisonous fog of "Chiwen" in a southwestern ancient town... Their opponents always manage to strike first.
As the slumbering nine sons of the dragon are awakened one by one, ancient fiends become weapons in the enemy's hands. As trusted companions are bloodied in snowy valleys and the identities of comrades at his side become mysteries... Lin Feng realizes that he must not only fight the "Moth-Worshipping Sacred Cult," an evil sect spanning time and space, but also face the terrifying hand behind it, intent on overthrowing the nation's fortunes.
This is a deadly struggle fought atop the dragon veins, between light and darkness, to protect the nation's fortunes.
On a battlefield unknown to all, they use their flesh and blood and supernatural powers to forge the dragon's reverse scales that defend China.
