With an Omnitrix in Hand, My Partner Is Ruan Mei

A casual read. The author’s writing wasn’t very good back then, so it’s kind of rough. A faulty space-time portal sends Xingchen, who wields the universe’s most powerful personal weapon, the Omnitrix, hurtling into the world of Honkai: Star Rail. He crashes straight through the roof of the laboratory belonging to Ruan Mei, Genius Society member No. 81. The price: his Omnitrix overloads and “goes on strike.” Most of his hero forms are locked, leaving him with just ten alien forms he can barely use. The good news: every one of those ten forms is top-notch, and his watch doesn’t have that damn time limit! The bad news: the cool, aloof scientist standing in front of him, clutching an enormous energy injector, is looking at him like he’s a once-in-a-lifetime living specimen. To repair his watch, find a way home, and sample delicacies from across the universe, Xingchen strikes a “win-win” deal with Ruan Mei: He’ll lend her his ever-changing body for research, and in return she’ll provide knowledge, protection, and a guide to the universe complete with a map of its best food. And so begins an interstellar adventure unlike any other: Use Diamondhead’s body to savor the perfect char on interstellar barbecue, enter the universe’s gluttony contest as Four Arms, “borrow” treasures from an auction using Ghostfreak’s powers, then help a young Herta solve an age-old mystery in an instant with XLR8’s speed, making her a genius in the process... Xingchen: “Sister Ruan Mei, where’s the next experiment? As long as there’s food, I’m in!” Ruan Mei: (quietly puts away the sampler) “Well, there’s a place where the ‘Nebula Cake’ is supposed to be quite good.”
