At the end of the Qing dynasty, the tomb-raiding sect known as the Grave Mound Division was wiped out in a struggle over the Manual of Tomb Guardianship. Only one successor survived, taking a fragment of the text into hiding. The ancient volume records nine secret tombs said to anchor the fate of the nation. Each tomb contains a guardian relic, and gathering them all can unravel the mystery of the world's dragon veins. But the tombs' guardians, the Tomb-Watching Corpses, and their mechanisms far surpass those of ordinary ancient tombs.
