Food blogger Ye Xiaoman opens her eyes to find she has become a farm girl on the brink of starvation during a famine. Her home is bare, and her family is at death's door. Just as she thinks she is about to suffer the same fate as the original owner, the [All Things Grow] System descends from the heavens!
A bag of brown rice gets them through an emergency, and a handful of vegetable seeds lets her reclaim the land. With the System's points, she exchanges them for seeds, recipes, and tools, turning their dilapidated thatched hut into a little granary overflowing with the harvest.
One day, a shabbily dressed scholar named Lu Jingxing collapses at her door. Ye Xiaoman saves him, thinking, "One more pair of chopsticks won't hurt," unaware that he is the wrongly accused descendant of a loyal official. A System quest suddenly appears: "Bind yourself to a promising talent and help him rise again!"
To complete the quest and find her family a reliable protector, Ye Xiaoman makes up her mind. "Lu Jingxing, let's get married in a flash! I'll support you, and you can be my protector!"
Lu Jingxing: "..."
From then on, a remarkable sight emerges amid the famine: a farm girl stockpiles food and builds a business with the help of her System, while the aloof scholar transforms into a devoted husband. While others flee the famine chewing tree bark, her shops spread across the country. While others struggle to make ends meet, her husband has been restored to his official position and wields power at court.
Ye Xiaoman rubs her round belly and looks at Lu Jingxing, gently feeding her pastries. She sighs with feeling. "If I'd known the System big shot was this useful, I should have made the first move!"
Lu Jingxing chuckles softly. "Madam, I'm the one who should thank you. When I was at my lowest, you gave me a home."
