The story takes place in "Jinjiang Garden", an old apartment building that is out of tune with the modern city. This building was built in the late 1990s. Due to its remote location, outdated facilities and low rent, it attracted some tenants who were financially strapped or had hidden agendas. However, this building's site selection, architectural pattern and internal layout all coincide with some ancient and dangerous Feng Shui taboos, forming a huge "trapped beast". It is rumored that the people who live in this building may have poor fortune and be in a trance, or may encounter accidents and die mysteriously. For a long time, rumors about the building being haunted, residents disappearing or committing suicide have never stopped, but they have all been treated as nonsense or coincidence. It wasn't until Lin Wei, a folklore researcher, set foot here in order to investigate the mysterious cause of death of her friend Chen Xin that she gradually uncovered the chilling truth behind this murderous building - it was not just bad feng shui, but more like a living, terrifying existence that constantly devoured the lives of living people.
