The scholar Su Yu encounters immortals fighting and abandons the imperial examinations to pursue cultivation, joining the Qingxuan Sect. He endures humiliation and presses forward, comprehends techniques from a fragmentary ancient scroll, and wins the disciple tournament to enter Zixiao Peak, where he befriends Lei Hu and Luo Yao. Later, he joins the alliance in resisting the Demon Fiend Cult, ventures into immortal-demon ruins, and obtains the Star Sword. In the end, he defeats the cult leader and protects the cultivation world. Having become a legend, he and Luo Yao pursue an even higher realm together.
