Chen Chao's life was as regular as the tides on the island, until Lin Po appeared with a notebook left by her father - her father was a photographer who had recorded Lantau birds for ten consecutive years, but lost contact in a storm.
The two got closer because of their common concern for islands and birds: Chen Chao guided Lin Bo to the observation location, while Lin Bo shared the memory in his father's notebook about "the wings of black-tailed gulls are stained with sunlight like broken amber". When a typhoon strikes, Chen Chao jumps into the roaring waves to recover a notebook that fell into the sea. This adventure allows them to understand each other's obsession with "inheritance" and "protection" - his father is not looking for a bird, but someone who is willing to preserve the beauty of the island; Chen Chao sees in Lin Po the possibility of making regular life shine.
The background of the story is as warm as the sunshine on the island. "Amber" is not only an image throughout (sunshine, waves, feathers, tokens), but also a symbol of memories and encounters that will not fade: when Lin Bo left, he took away the amber embedded with seagull feathers. In the photos he later sent back, the amber overlapped with the light spots on the sea; Chen Chao continued to record the island while waiting, allowing this connection to continue like a tide. The overall narrative is light but powerful, hiding a gentle protection of nature, memory and emotions.
