In 2023, the 30-year-old protagonist, Chen Mo, is an independent documentary filmmaker fascinated by the culture of the 1980s. Under immense pressure to find a subject for his next film, he discovers an old ring engraved with the character “Ming” and a vintage cassette player while sorting through his grandmother's belongings. Late that night, as he listens to a tape, the machine suddenly makes a strange noise, and a burst of light pulls him into a temporal maelstrom.
