The story of Su Wan, the owner of an independent bookstore, and Lu Chengyu, a restorer of historic architecture. Su Wan runs an old bookstore in a small Jiangnan town, a place that holds her family’s memories. Quiet and reserved, she is used to speaking to the world through words. Lu Chengyu comes to town to take part in the restoration of a local ancient bridge. Steady and focused, his fingertips always seem to carry the warmth of wood and history. During a rainstorm, Lu Chengyu ducks into the bookstore to escape the rain. There he is drawn to a yellowed architectural notebook. Its owner was Su Wan’s late grandfather, a craftsman who once helped build the bridge.
The threads of fate quietly entwine. Starting with scattered notes in the notebook, they uncover the story behind the ancient bridge, and through each exchanged glance and every moment spent working side by side, they gradually enter each other’s worlds. Su Wan’s tenderness, hidden in her writing, and Lu Chengyu’s deep affection, concealed beneath his strict demeanor, take root in the misty rains of Jiangnan.
