The Starving Fiend

A catastrophe born from an ancient presence beneath the earth, the “Hunger Fiend,” sweeps across the globe, reducing the world to a wasteland. Engineer Zhou Shen is attacked by a mutant in a shelter, where he meets Lin Wan, who has a fragment of the Hunger Fiend parasitizing her body, and a boy. To survive and uncover the truth, they venture into the Echo Well, an exploration site connected to the Hunger Fiend’s source.

The expedition below the well is like a descent into hell. They uncover the tragedy of an early exploration team that played with fire and paid the price, and awaken a mirror-born will that opposes the Hunger Fiend. After a heart-pounding clash of wills, they temporarily deal a heavy blow to the Hunger Fiend’s source. Zhou Shen and the others narrowly escape, drifting down an underground river to the Rock survivor camp.

With the camp’s resources running out, Zhou Shen leads a team west and eventually finds the North Star Base, established by the national government. He returns with crucial supplies and technical support, breathing new life into the camp.

But Zhou Shen and Lin Wan still have an unfulfilled promise and someone they cannot forget: they must return to the abandoned factory where it all began and find their missing companion, Old Zhang. Carrying medicine and hope, they set off back and successfully rescue Old Zhang and the others, who are on the brink of despair.

Three years later, under Zhou Shen and Lin Wan’s leadership, the abandoned factory has been transformed into a thriving community called Home Station. Lin Wan is expecting a child, and this new life symbolizes rebirth amid the ruins.
