A Heart-Fluttering Contract Beneath the Stars

Lin Weiguang, an art student, and Lu Chenyi, the finance department’s campus heartthrob, cross paths after an awkward first meeting in an art studio, where he mistakes her for someone else. Harried by all the people pursuing him, Lu Chenyi is drawn to Weiguang’s apparent lack of interest in romance and proposes a contract relationship to fend off his admirers. The five thousand yuan he offers her each month helps ease the financial strain on her family.

From pretending to be a couple at a basketball game to spending time together as he tutors her in the studio; from standing up for her at a campus festival to taking tender care of her at her bedside on a rainy night, their contractual relationship quietly changes with every little gesture. He rents out an art museum for her birthday and exhibits her paintings; she helps him emerge from the shadow of childhood isolation, and they share their fears and dreams.

When their summer romance faces family pressure, accusations of plagiarism, and a crisis of trust, they see the truth through the storm: the contract was only an excuse for falling in love. They grow together: she holds her own solo exhibition, and he becomes a rising star in his industry. Graduation, a long-distance relationship, and even the challenges of living in different countries cannot part them. In the end, from their first meeting in a campus art studio to their vows beneath a wedding veil, the love that began with a contract becomes starlight, illuminating both their lives.
