Transmigrated into Story of Ruyi: The Hectic Daily Life of a Grumpy Office Worker

(The story will generally follow the original plot, though the details will differ. I’m not a fan of putting the women through misery and will try to give everyone a happy ending. I’m just writing for fun, so please go easy on me.)

One peaceful afternoon, I, a burned-out office drone, was just about to lie down and do absolutely nothing.

Then my mad-scientist dad dragged me off to test out the System he’d just developed.

Before I could argue, Dad had already pressed the confirmation button on the machine. A blinding light swept over me, along with a wave of dizziness, and a mechanical voice suddenly rang in my head: “Greetings, Host. You are about to enter the world of Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace. Identity match: Ulanara Ruyi.”

I nearly jumped up and cursed him out right then and there.

It was as if I could hear that line in my ears: “Across these endless years, I cannot tell when I’ll return. I hate that I never knew what I truly held dear…”

[Helpful reminder: The Host cannot change the predetermined fates of historical figures. Enjoy your experience.]

What the hell, is this some kind of hell-difficulty experience pass?

And the sort where you can’t even beat the game!

Fine, then. Let’s see how a veteran office drone uses workplace rules to turn Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace upside down!
