Before Chen Fan went mad, the Mythic Era was eternal, imperishable, and utterly glorious. There was no such thing as the twilight of the myths or the changing of one Mythic Era into another. After Chen Fan went mad, the true, eternal and imperishable Mythic Era underwent a great upheaval. After that battle, at regular intervals, the absolute end of the Dharma on Earth would engulf all the myths. Thus the Mythic Era reached its twilight, then came to a complete end. To avoid bearing such immense karmic consequences, and to heal his own grievous injuries, Chen Fan reincarnated.
As his memories revived again and again, Chen Fan learned first of the end-of-Dharma measures; second, of his great achievement in creating methods for forging weapons of mythic civilization in his second life; and third, of how he enabled all the gods to live until the next Mythic Era, and the one after that. It was only in his fourth life that Chen Fan finally gained the possibility of making the myths truly eternal.
