Hu Yiwei, 30, is a reporter for a local newspaper in Nanchang, specializing in Republican-era history and research on the Nanchang Anti-Japanese Campaign. He is the only son of Hu Guoqi, the eldest son of Hu Luliang. In 2024, he returns to the old family home on Ximazhuang Road in Nanchang to gather clues for organizing the family archives and completing the Hu family genealogy. By chance, he touches a Republic-era suitcase left behind by his grandfather, Hu Guoqi. Inside are a family photograph from 1937 and parts from a handcart belonging to Luliang. He transmigrates to Nanchang in 1935.
