In the fifth year of Zhenguan (AD 631), the Tang Dynasty was established, and all wastes were waiting to be revitalized. Li Shimin worked hard to govern. There were virtuous ministers such as Fang Xuanling and Du Ruhui in the court, as well as aristocratic forces such as Changsun Wuji. The frontiers faced threats from the remnants of Turkic forces, and people's livelihood still needed to be improved.
