Flying Daggers Defy Fate: Chronicles of the Quest for Pleasure

Inspired by Jin Yong's ideal of the hero who stands for his country and its people, this tale follows Li Xunhuan through a world of immortal heroes, where he struggles against fate and protects all living things.

Once the leader of the rogue cultivators at Luoxian Ridge, he awakens amid the Qingyun Sect's army-wide assault to the secret of his past life: he was a War God of the ancient divine realm. To prevent his return, the Heavenly Dao bound him for a thousand years with the "Shackles of Love and Loyalty," and every tragedy in his previous life was part of its scheme. Fortunately, five women stand by his side: Sun Xiaohong guards his path with her blade, Lin Shiyin protects mountains and rivers with formations, Mo Lan heals the suffering, Yang Yan wields qi to break spells, and Lin Xian'er spies into people's hearts. All five are reincarnations of the War God's guardians. Drawn together by fate, they join him in building the "Chaos Heart-as-One Formation."

The Hall of the High Heavens, the Heavenly Dao's attack dog, leads countless immortals against him. His twin brother, Li Nitian, appears wielding the power of the laws, only to be revealed as the Heavenly Dao's "negative projection." He takes the five women hostage and demands that Li Xunhuan abandon his power. Refusing to yield, Li Xunhuan enters the ruins of the ancient divine realm in search of the Chaos Battle Garb. There, he comprehends the power of "severing the Dao," breaks the Heavenly Dao's shackles, and defeats Nitian, only to learn an even greater truth: the Heavenly Dao has long been corrupted by the Chaos Heart Demon, and both the immortal and mortal realms are on the brink of destruction.

In the end, he takes up his Chaos Flying Daggers and joins the five women in protecting all living things. They enter the core of the Heavenly Dao to slay the heart demon and reshape the rules, abolishing the divide between the immortal and mortal realms and establishing an Immortal-Mortal Council to uphold fairness. His daggers no longer bear the stain of slaughter; they carry only the will to protect. Though he bears the fate of a War God, his heart remains that of a chivalrous hero. He will not betray Jin Yong's heroic spirit, nor all the people under heaven.
