When I woke up, I was lying on a cold stone slab.
The dull pain in the back of my head made me dizzy. I barely pushed myself up, and what I saw was a completely unfamiliar sight.
The gray sky hung low over the city like a dirty rag soaked in water. The air was filled with a strange smell of rust and old dust, mixed with a hint of sweetness. I was in a narrow alley, with tall, mottled masonry buildings on both sides. Most of the windows were broken and randomly nailed with wooden boards, like blind eyes.
My last memory is working overtime in front of the computer at two in the morning, revising that damn project plan. Because of hypoglycemia, I got up to get a glass of water, and then I felt dizzy...
