The Hidden Dragon Emerges from the Abyss
Outer sect of the Liuyun Sect, beside the trial platform.
Su Han clutched his bloodied side and knelt on the ground in humiliation. Before him, Liu Chengfeng, dressed in a moon-white Daoist robe, insolently lifted Su Han’s chin with the tip of his foot. His contempt cut like a blade. “Su Han, you’re nothing but a waste with a false spiritual root, and you dare compete with me on the trial platform? Look at your fourth level of Body Tempering. You’re not even worth making me fight seriously!”
Laughter rose all around them. The outer sect disciples were used to watching Su Han get bullied. Three years ago, the Liuyun Sect had reluctantly admitted him because of his rare false spiritual root. He had thought it was the beginning of a turning point in his life, but his root absorbed spiritual energy at an astonishingly slow pace. “I… I never meant to compete with you…” Su Han gritted his teeth, his nails digging deep, bloody crescents into his palm. The metallic taste of blood spread through his mouth. He had merely been passing by the trial platform when Liu Chengfeng and his men stopped him and subjected him to this humiliation for no reason.
“Never meant to?” Liu Chengfeng sneered and kicked Su Han to the ground. “Last month, when the sect was gathering medicinal herbs, your younger brother Su Mu even got a token to enter the inner sect. What a pity. He broke his spiritual meridians protecting you when I beat him. I doubt he even has the strength to pick up a hoe now.”
“You’re asking for death!”
Those words crashed into Su Han’s heart like a bolt of thunder. He jerked his head up, his eyes bloodshot. His younger brother Su Mu was the only family he had left in this world
