Sharp-tongued, cool-headed heroine / short-tempered, constantly flustered hero / mutual firsts / satisfying read
Scene 1:
Qian Ge’er gave a mocking laugh, her voice tinged with sarcasm. “You’re the emperor, for heaven’s sake. Can’t you act a little more maturely when dealing with problems, instead of always thinking about what happens in bed?”
?!
He’s getting scolded again.
Qi Zeyuan planted his hands on his hips and took a deep breath, trying to calm the anger rising within him. “You’re trying to drive me to an early grave.”
“No.”
Qian Ge’er shook her head calmly. “I’m just stating a fact.”
“Qian Ge’er, you have no conscience.”
Qi Zeyuan stared at her for two seconds, then suddenly accused her in a low voice, “I love you so much. Can’t you feel it?”
“The emperor loves everyone. I can feel that, Your Majesty.”
He frowned, quick to catch on. “You’re insulting me in a roundabout way.”
“You’re too sensitive.” She shrugged, looking helpless.
Those were his own words to her once. Today, she’d thrown them right back at him.
“We were together for four years back then. How did I never realize you were so good with words?” He laughed in exasperation.
She returned a fake smile. “Better late than never.”
“Fine! Qian Ge’er, you’re something else!”
“Thank you for the compliment, Your Majesty.” She tilted her head and smiled, accepting the man’s “praise” without a care.
Scene 2:
The man glared darkly at the empty bedchamber, his eyes full of menace. “Where is the empress?”
The people below him knelt in a trembling cluster. “Your Majesty, the empress... she’s... left again.”
As soon as the words fell, a deathly silence settled over the hall.
Everyone there was thinking the same thing.
That’s right. The empress has abandoned you again.
This is worthy of being a male protagonist who purely abuses women [laughs awkwardly]
