In 2149, the Stardust Virus swept across the globe. Originating from a crashed alien probe, this silicon-based virus transforms the infected into "Silicon Huskers," stripping them of their consciousness and driving them to feed on carbon-based life. They can also evolve by devouring metal. Human civilization collapsed within three years. The few survivors left behind clung to life in settlements. Some awakened supernatural abilities, while most relied on technologically enhanced weapons and machinery to survive.
The protagonist, Lin Ye, was once the chief mechanical engineer of Rockhold Settlement, skilled at modifying broken-down machinery from the apocalypse and building defensive systems. But in the fifth year of the apocalypse, his trusted comrade Zhao Feng betrayed him and offered him to the Mother Hive Silicon Husker. He could only watch as his beloved Su Wan died fighting to save him. On the brink of death, he came into contact with the Mother Hive's core, a Stardust Crystal, and accidentally triggered a time reversal. He was reborn three months before the apocalypse began, in January 2149. At the time, the Stardust Virus had not yet spread on a large scale and had been officially classified as a "new type of flu." He was still an ordinary mechanical repairman, Su Wan was studying for her graduate degree at medical school, and none of the tragedies had happened yet.
