[Free-spirited little wildcat vs. enchanting old fox]
[Fiery, headstrong noblewoman from Shu vs. ghostly, orthodox emperor]
Older man, mutual firsts, healing
Xiang Ling, daughter of Shu's Sikong, has a weakness for handsome men. Writing under the pen name Luan Qin, she is a sensation in Shu's literary circles. Clever beyond compare and bold to a fault, she has never been one to play it safe.
Ji Wujie: a man of unbelievably, unbelievably, unbelievably stunning beauty!
A disastrous political marriage brings Xiang Ling face-to-face, in the bloom of her youth, with the person she most wants to possess.
He is like an immortal worshipped in a shrine, pure and radiant, making her want to desecrate him. And he is like a bewitching ghost drifting through a tomb, captivating her soul and luring her into dangerous depths.
Under the strict rules of propriety, he tempts her to take one step after another in the shadows.
With their unequal status, he owes her a proper place by his side, from beginning to end.
She loses herself and follows her heart, believing their forbidden affair is simply a wild, mutual surrender to desire, a thrilling game played for her pleasure.
But he tells her that she is a flash of light in his life, bringing warmth and color to his cold, dark world.
(The heroine is the protagonist, and the story is told from her perspective. This blurb focuses only on the romance, but her life is about more than love. She is young, not a naturally clear-eyed, strong female lead. She is free-spirited and follows her heart, loving and hating without reservation, and she grows along the way.)
(This is a fictional historical setting, loosely inspired by the pre-Qin era. History buffs need not scrutinize the details too closely: the worldbuilding serves the story ❤️)
A very interesting book, well written.
Personally, I think the author's writing is quite good, the writing style is ok, and the rhythm of the story still has room for improvement. I hope the author will stick to it, come on! Come on! Come on!
