Daoist student Chen Qingyuan transmigrates to another world’s Suzhou and Hangzhou, where an abandoned factory sits by a lake, sealed off by a grand formation of the twelve zodiac signs. Inside, three restless vengeful spirits, an infant spirit, a laboring ghost, and a spirit of romantic obsession, seethe with resentment. Drawing on his professional knowledge, he discovers that the formation was not built to nurture ghosts. Rather, the three spirits were too powerful when combined, so those who came before could only seal them away. Faced with the local authorities’ evasion and helplessness, Chen Qingyuan resolutely ventures inside. Instead of trying to destroy the spirits, he seeks to understand the source of their pain and guides their overwhelming resentment into becoming protective earth spirits, finally bringing peace to this tragic past.
