Chen Fan, once the master of the Hall of Yama, feared by the underworld across the world and known by the codename “Dragon Marshal,” suffers a devastating betrayal. His brothers are killed or gravely wounded, and he fakes his own death and retires from the world. He marries into the third-rate Su family of Jiangcheng, becoming a “good-for-nothing son-in-law” whom everyone can bully. He had hoped to leave his old life behind and protect the younger sister of a fallen comrade, who is now his wife in name. But a bloodstained plea for help from a former comrade shatters the city’s peace. A mysterious organization called the Abyss is hunting down the remaining members of the Hall of Yama and seeking to seize control of the world’s underworld. For revenge, and to protect those he cares about, Chen Fan is forced back into action.
