[Misunderstandings spiral out of control + supernatural comedy + showbiz + materialist warrior]
Jiang Chen, an extra actor, accidentally binds himself to the “God-Tier Movie Emperor System.” But there’s something off about this System: it renders every demon, ghost, and horrifying supernatural being in the world as “top-notch special effects” in Jiang Chen’s eyes!
And so, everything takes a sudden turn:
A thousand-year-old vengeful ghost comes to claim his life? Jiang Chen: “Who did this special-effects makeup? The rotting flesh looks so realistic. Give the makeup artist an extra chicken leg!”
The Zombie King bursts out of its coffin? Jiang Chen: “That extra has great core strength, but his movements are a little stiff. He needs more practice!”
Furniture flies around the room, with tables and chairs smashing into people? Jiang Chen: “The props team is incredible! The budget’s going up in flames!”
Director Zhang, a chubby fellow, realizes Jiang Chen is unknowingly a natural-born ghostbuster and comes up with a plan: he tricks Jiang Chen into filming a “fully on-location, unscripted, immersive horror movie.” From then on, Jiang Chen pursues his dream of becoming a movie emperor in this bizarre world, embarking on a wild journey of “physical exorcisms.”
[Bonus scene]
Female ghost, sobbing: “I just wanted to suck a little yang energy, but he slapped me and accused me of stealing his scene!”
A coal boss, kneeling: “Master! Please, take back this divine power of yours!”
Jiang Chen, righteous as can be: “Everybody, get up! We have to believe in science! There’s no such thing as ghosts. Those are just special effects the director spent a fortune on!”
Director Zhang, trembling as he counts his money: “Right, right... Teacher Jiang acted wonderfully. For the next movie, let’s go film a tomb-raiding flick in Qin Shi Huang’s mausoleum!”
