Stop Pretending, Dora

When your most familiar childhood friend smiles with the purest innocence and tells you the deadliest rules, welcome to Dora's Nightmare Park.

He Yan, a suspense novelist, never imagined that the horror scenes he wrote would become a survival guide. When he wakes up, he finds himself trapped with several strangers in a brightly colored cartoon world, with a cheerful nursery rhyme playing on repeat in his ears. Dora announces that the game has begun in her sweet voice, and the first participant to refuse to answer vanishes in pixels before everyone's eyes.

Here, failure in Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf's “peace game” means being “dealt with”; Superwings Pig Hero's super lollipop grants strength but devours memories; and under the Teletubbies' bedtime rules, falling asleep means sleeping forever. Every childhood memory is a deadly trap, and every safety rule is full of lies.

As his companions meet bizarre deaths one after another, and he discovers that using his abilities means permanently losing his memories, He Yan is forced to tread the line between reason and madness. But Boots the monkey, who always appears at critical moments, has eyes that seem far too human, as if he has already seen through all of He Yan's struggles.

The only good news is that they seem to have found a “door” out. The bad news is that what awaits them behind it is a reality more terrifying than any fairy tale...

Rule One: Always answer her.

Rule Two: Never trust a childhood smile.

Rule Three: Keep thinking, but don't remember.

Unless you're ready to pay the sweet price.
