In an era of spiritual qi revival, high martial arts, and low-level cultivation, a trainee police officer accidentally shoots and injures a civilian. He is supposed to take off his uniform, but the protagonist gets a chance to redeem himself by risking his life in a spirit-core experiment. He survives against all odds and is rewarded with a golden finger: the ability to control dogs, enhance them, and boost his own combat strength. He then joins a special operations squad and battles the forces of the underworld.
