Lin Yan, a servant disciple of the Greenwood Sect, has been bullied since childhood because he possesses a Devouring Spirit Dao Body, considered ominous and wicked. By chance, he awakens the remnant soul of an ancient Devouring Spirit Sect expert, "Old Ghost," from a jade pendant, setting him on the path to a stunning comeback.
Using his Devouring Spirit Dao Body to absorb spiritual energy and refine demonic cultivators, he breaks through from the Foundation Establishment stage onward. He first helps the Greenwood Sect overcome a crisis caused by the Blood Soul Sect, then joins forces with sects across the cultivation continent to repel an invasion by an extraterritorial demon lord. He also gathers the Five Elements Spirit Pearls to activate the Boundary-Sealing Grand Array and protect the continent. After ascending to the Immortal Realm, he shatters the prejudice against lower-realm cultivators, rebuilds the Devouring Spirit Immortal Sect, and leads immortal cultivators against the Chaos Demon Tide. Between life and death, he comprehends the power of chaotic light and grows into the Immortal Realm's leader in the fight against demons.
To eliminate the threat once and for all, Lin Yan ventures into the universe, from merging with mecha in a technological star domain to breaking through to the origin in the Hongmeng star domain, eventually becoming ruler of the universe. Through it all, he follows the Dao of protection. Facing invasions by extraterritorial chaos and the devouring power of the lifeless origin, he merges twin origins and transforms into the spirit of the origins of all realms. At last, he uses his own Dao Body to protect countless worlds, spreading the belief that "devouring spirits is not evil; protection is the heart" throughout the myriad realms. Thus he completes his ultimate transformation from a sect servant to a guardian of worlds, composing an epic tale of cultivation spanning the mortal and immortal realms and the universe.
Well enough! It looks okay!
