Ink-Dyed Yin and Yang: Starting as a Portrait Painter

In the world known as “Nine Abysses,” cultivation relies not on traditional spiritual roots or battle qi, but on “spiritual resonance.” All things possess spiritual resonance, and there is an ancient, nearly lost profession called the skin painter. By painting, repairing, or even reshaping a living being’s “outer form,” skin painters can alter its essential “spiritual resonance,” achieving all kinds of miraculous effects, including cultivation, combat, healing, and disguise. A skin painter’s brush is called a “Spirit-Tuned Brush,” and their ink, “Myriad Forms Ink,” is made by refining the spiritual resonance of heaven and earth. But the art of skin painting is extremely prone to backlash. One wrong move can cause “spiritual resonance corruption,” driving the practitioner mad or turning them into a monster beyond human form.
