A Breath Alone in the Wilderness

[No harem, no formulaic tropes, no brainless characters, no System]

Lin Xiaoman is warmhearted, innocent, independent, and free-spirited. She has loved photography since childhood, and uses her camera to tear away the disguises of high society.

Before college, her family was so poor she couldn’t even afford a phone. She bought her first one after starting university. While her classmates joined all kinds of clubs, she couldn’t see the point, so she joined none. She also looked for work during breaks. After graduation, her classmates either joined companies through campus recruitment or continued their studies. She had wanted to continue her education too, but her scores weren’t high enough, so she went to work instead. Her first job was in her field of study, but she didn’t know how to navigate office politics and quit in less than a month. She never stayed at any of her later jobs for more than a few months. It made her miserable. She wanted to work hard and get promoted, but for some reason, with no connections to back her up, she was ostracized and discriminated against at work, and bullied by her colleagues and bosses.

She is a little timid and doesn’t know how to handle things. Often, after she’s been working for a while, her boss will tell her to leave for no apparent reason, or threaten to call the police if she doesn’t. Now she makes a living delivering food part-time, while pursuing her photography dreams in her spare time and capturing beautiful moments for people. She dreams of traveling around the world, recording the local cultures, architecture, food, and the wonders of nature. Whenever she sees other people doing well at work and earning their bosses’ approval and admiration, she envies them.

Getting out of poverty is part of her life plan. Finding a partner isn’t. She feels she can’t rely on her parents, so can she really rely on anyone else?
