The protagonist, Xuan Chen, was originally a sweeping monk at the thousand-year-old "Jingxin Temple". Before his death, his master told him that "the world of mortals is the dojo, and those who help others are those who help ourselves" and asked him to go down the mountain to practice. Xuan Chen seems dull, but in fact he is compassionate, proficient in Buddhism and meditation, and can discern the cause and effect of people's hearts. He occasionally shows weak magical powers such as "other minds" and "observation of cause and effect" (non-fighting, focusing on transformation). His goal is not to become a Buddha, but to use Buddhism to resolve the obsessions and pain of the world in the impetuous modern society.
