Designated Driver Livestream: Host, Your Client Isn't Human

Chen Ping’an, a former factory worker beaten down by reality and driven to become a livestreaming designated driver, firmly believes in the core socialist values. His daily catchphrase is, “Folks, believe in science.”

That is, until he accepted a late-night ride to a cemetery hill and the customer’s tip turned into hell money the next day; gave a ride to a flirtatious pair of fat and thin brothers, only to see strange ghostly shadows clinging to them in the rearview mirror; and rescued a bar beauty possessed by a fox demon, only to have the platform ban his account for 24 hours for “promoting feudal superstition”...

Chen Ping’an stared at the box of “feudal superstition” classics his grandfather had left beneath the bed and fell into deep thought.

Now he carried a peachwood sword in his left hand and a livestreaming pole in his right, with black dog blood at his waist and a backpack stuffed with lightning-struck wood. By day, he practiced the “Scientific Health-Preserving Art”; by night, he livestreamed while taking jobs.

“Folks, we’re not doing anything superstitious tonight. We’re just running a simple magnetic-field interference test...”

He’d barely finished speaking when the new passenger opened the car door, and a rank fox smell flooded in.

Chen Ping’an quietly tightened his grip on the talisman in his pocket and gave the camera a professional smile.

“Watch closely, folks. I’m about to explain, using biological principles, why even a creature that’s cultivated into a spirit still has to obey traffic laws.”
