Slice-of-life with a light music club, BanG Dream! dreams, and the reality of Girls Band Cry.
In a nutshell, it’s the story of a Chinese mother raising four Japanese daughters...
Protagonist: “Without me, this band would fall apart sooner or later.”
A band on the verge of disbanding. An adventure that begins beneath the cherry blossoms.
Lin Xiaoxia comes from China to Japan, hoping to escape the pain of losing her best friend. She stumbles into a long-abandoned light music club and meets Chinatsu, a piano prodigy afraid to perform onstage; Rinne, a bassist who puts reason above all else; Misaki, a drummer working to support her family; and Saya, a vocalist constrained by her family. One simple line, “Let’s start a band together!” brings five silent souls into harmony.
They start out playing to an empty hall at the school festival, then use original songs like “First Encounter,” “Storm,” and “Legend” to shatter the labels placed on them. They make it all the way to the national competition and take the stage at the Budokan. But behind the glory lie the record company’s financial temptations, fierce clashes between members, and difficult choices between higher education and their dreams. The band comes close to breaking up time and again, but struggles onward through arguments and tears.
This is more than a story about everyday youth. It has the brokenness and redemption of MyGO!!!!!, the quiet heroine’s explosive breakthrough in Bocchi the Rock!, and BanG Dream!’s unwavering pursuit of dreams.
When graduation comes, they refuse to disband and keep playing in the name of independence.
Because they know...
Even the smallest voice can become a Legend that shakes the world,
