In Yaqing Village, deep in the mountains of southern Hunan, there is a centuries-old dark marriage curse: a young girl in the late Qing Dynasty was forcibly married to a young master who died young, and the "Crowqing Curse" was set before her death. Every thirty years, a living person must be chosen as a substitute, otherwise the whole village will suffer revenge from the evil spirit. Folklore reporter Lin Tang went to the village to find out the truth, but became a "bride stand-in" and disappeared, leaving only a note and a bone flute that said "When the bone flute sounds, the door to hell will open".
Editor Lin Zhan stepped into Yaqing Village in search of his sister, and faced the strangeness of the village: the howling old locust trees on rainy days, the faceless wooden signs in every household, and the gray ghosts chasing after them late at night. What's even more surprising is that the villagers are not afraid of the curse - they rely on the resentment of the substitute to nourish the land, and have long regarded cruel rules as a shortcut to survival.
From the child-size red embroidered shoes in the adobe house, to the ghost marriage book in the cellar of the ancestral hall, to the "ghost wedding pool" filled with skeletons, Lin Zhan gets closer to the truth step by step: the ghost of the child wearing a torn wedding dress holds the same bone flute, the ghost of the ghost bride at the bottom of the pool is waiting for the "groom", and the sister's bone flute is actually made from the bones of the escaped groom. It is both the key to breaking the curse and the switch to the ghost door.
When the villagers raised farm tools to block the village, the resentful souls at the bottom of the pond dragged at them, and the bone flute automatically awakened centuries-old resentment, Lin Zhan finally understood: the most terrifying thing in Yaqing Village was never the ghosts and gods, but the sacrifices made by humans to their own kind. This shady marriage scam that spans hundreds of years must finally be played by someone with a bone flute to end it - even if they die together with the resentful souls, they must take the souls of their sister and all the substitutes to escape from this land of blood.
