A friend of folk photographer Jiang Che disappears mysteriously, and the only clue points to an isolated village in the mountains that has been forgotten by the world - "Silent Village". This village has no writing and no names. The villagers rely on a strange "shadow play" to pass on their memories and identities. There is an iron rule in the village: after sunset, you must not look directly at anyone's shadow, let alone let your own shadow overlap with that of others.
As the investigation deepened, Jiang Che discovered that the disappearance of his friend was related to the taboo "eating shadow" ritual in the village. Whenever a long night falls, the villagers who have lost their shadows will turn into silent hunters, wandering in the darkness, looking for new "hosts". Jiang Che's arrival broke the fragile balance of the village and made himself the next target. He must use his camera to uncover the ultimate horror of existence and nothingness hidden behind the "Silent Village" before his shadow is swallowed up, and find the only way to escape from here.
