I'm 28, and I've Decided to Become a Woman

Twenty-eight-year-old bioengineer Lin Mu has the life everyone envies, except she doesn’t envy it herself.

In her rational, scientific world, one variable is always wrong: her female soul is imprisoned in a male body. Every day, shaving away her stubble in front of the mirror feels like a silent execution of a stranger.

Then one day, her mother once again smiled and urged her “son” to settle down and build a career. That word, “son,” sounded like a final verdict, leaving her utterly breathless.

That night, in her state-of-the-art biological laboratory, she made a reckless decision. She wasn’t going to cure the world. She was going to cure herself.

She synthesized a dose of estrogen herself.

As the cold liquid entered her bloodstream, a silent and valiant “self-revolution” began. The secret soreness in her chest, fat quietly shifting beneath her skin, emotions spiraling out of control like a rising tide... Every millimeter of change in her body came with a storm raging in the outside world.

Her mother’s breakdown and a birth secret buried for thirty years; strange looks at work and an invisible glass ceiling...

Lin Xi, the name she chose for herself, knows that every step she takes is a solitary walk along society’s tightrope. But she knows this, too:

When the soul declares war on the body, you either die in silence or deliver yourself into the world through flames.

This is a grueling expedition to affirm the soul’s truth with science and willpower. She will prove that the greatest creation of all is becoming your true self.
