She and Her Homecoming

In Shenzhen in 2025, AI algorithm engineer Lin Shutong left her secure job back in her hometown and moved to Nanshan to escape family pressure to marry and find herself. But the high rent forced her to unexpectedly share an apartment with Su Yan, an architectural designer.

One tackles challenges in the world of code, while the other rushes between construction sites and blueprints. As they struggle to make a living, the two go from sharing instant noodles to survive to relying on each other through a rainstorm. Gradually, they begin to touch on the secrets they keep buried in their hearts: their longing for and fear of loving someone of the same sex.

Amid Shenzhen’s neon lights and evening breezes, they face workplace discrimination and family pressure. From a rental in an urban village to building a home with a balcony together, they prove that love and dreams can both take root and grow in this city.
