Embers Through Three Lifetimes: The Legend of Xuanxi

Four hundred and fifty years ago, she was Xuan Xi, the only Heavenly Lady of Burning Skies in the Immortal Realm to awaken a Chaos Fire Spirit Root. She was just one step away from ascension, but on the eve of her tribulation, she was betrayed by the two people she revered and trusted most: her master, Mo Yuan, and her direct disciple, Su Wei. A Heartlock clasp sealed her spiritual power, and a Spirit-Slaying Blade carved out her fire meridians. Her life-bound fire meridians were refined into a protective treasure for Su Wei called the Lamp of Ashen Destruction, while her soul shattered in the Bone Abyss of the River of Forgetfulness.

On the brink of death, Xuan Xi used her own blood to ignite and burn away her soul, triggering an ancient forbidden Nirvana art. To her astonishment, she was reborn as an outer sect disciple, back when she was scorned as a “monster without a spirit root.” This time, three-life fire sigils gather in her palm, and a sea of blood-deep hatred lies hidden in her eyes. From a drafty woodshed to the secret realm of Embercliff, she plans every step as she awakens her Chaos Fire Spirit Root. She also unexpectedly holds the Netherworld Token she once seized from Mo Yuan, which reveals the secret of a fated pact: “By the Three-Life Stone, the Netherworld seals the bond.”

She protects A Mu, claims the Fire Lotus, and fights Blackwind Stronghold. In the Fallen Star Secret Realm, she clashes head-on with Mo Yuan’s Extreme Cold Ice Soul Root, and at the Immortal Alliance Assembly, she exposes Su Wei’s false virtue. Yet on her path to revenge, she is repeatedly thrown into confusion. Complex emotions hide in Mo Yuan’s protective glances, ancient characters on the Netherworld Token hint at entanglements spanning three lifetimes, and when the demons invade, he even risks his life to protect her.

As the truth gradually emerges, she learns that Mo Yuan’s betrayal in her previous life was a desperate measure to protect her from a conspiracy in the Immortal Realm, and that a demon clan was secretly manipulating Su Wei. Her master-disciple bond with Mo Yuan had long been engraved on the Three-Life Stone: “For lifetimes to come, in love until death.” In the end, Xuan Xi burns away the demonic calamity with Nirvana Fire, reclaims her fire meridians, and joins Mo Yuan in breaking through the shackles of the Immortal Realm. With their love spanning three lives and their blades drawn, they compose a tale of immortal heroes that is both blazing and heartbreaking, and true until death.
