Zhang Heng, a young man from the modern era, accidentally transmigrates to a cultivation world where gods and demons have withdrawn from the world. By a twist of fate, he inherits the legacy of the Great Emperor Fengdu and takes on the mission of rebuilding the underworld and restoring reincarnation.
Starting with the restoration of a ruined land temple, he recruits a reincarnated King of Hell, outsmarts the Road to the Yellow Springs, experiences the seven emotions of mortal life, subdues the vicious dogs and golden roosters, opens up a sanctuary for restless souls, and establishes the laws of the underworld.
The overlords of the demonic path regard him as their mortal enemy, the rulers of the human world fear he will seize their power, and the living dread the underworld’s return.
Using a modern mindset to overcome every crisis, Zhang Heng gathers the Ten Kings of Hell, builds Fengdu City, battles the Demon Venerable, and quells the upheaval.
As the underworld is restored to glory and reincarnation returns, the shocking secret behind an ancient war and the hidden cause behind his transmigration gradually come to light...
