The novel takes the Yellow Turban uprising at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty as the broad background, and uses the unique first-person perspective of Zhang Jiao, a figure defined as a "monster" and "rebel" in traditional history books, to reshape him into a positive hero who is compassionate and pleads for the people. The novel is different from ordinary "slobbery" online literature, but has profound historical insight and rich literary imagination.
