Transmigrating to Ancient Times to Become the Top Scholar

Wang Sanniu transmigrates to the Great Liang dynasty and awakens in the body of a butcher’s son. He is frail and poor with knives and axes, but well versed in literature. The great clans monopolize the imperial examinations, leaving men from humble families little chance of entering officialdom. Everyone mocks him for his lowly origins. Then he unexpectedly gains a golden finger, combining modern knowledge with the rigid eight-legged essay style of ancient times. His writing leaves everyone astonished. He uses mathematical logic to tackle policy essays and draws inspiration from fine food to refine his literary style. He takes first place in the county exam, then causes a sensation across the region with his essay On the People as the Foundation at the prefectural exam. While others rely on family connections to pave their way, he turns his fortunes around with his talent. Clan elders suppress him and powerful nobles trip him up, only to be face-slapped one by one. From a butcher shop in the marketplace to the imperial palace’s Apricot Garden banquet, he wields his pen like a sword and rises higher with every step. In the end, he becomes the top scorer in the imperial examinations, enters the Hanlin Academy, oversees agricultural lands, quells border troubles, and rises to the highest ranks of the court, changing the fate of humble families everywhere.
